Privacy policy

How we collect, use, protect and dispose of personal information — including device passcodes and the data on devices we service.

Effective date: July 13, 2026 · Last updated: September 23, 2026

1Who we are

RevyTech Incorporated, operating as RevyTech (“RevyTech”, “we”, “us” or “our”), operates an electronics repair business at 103 2nd St E, Revelstoke, British Columbia V0E 2S0, providing repair services for phones, MacBooks, laptops, tablets and other electronic devices. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store and dispose of personal information, in accordance with the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”) and, where applicable, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”).

This policy applies to personal information collected in our store, through our website at https://revytech.ca, and through any other interaction you have with us.

2Information we collect

  • Contact information: your name, phone number, email address and, where needed, mailing address.
  • Device information: make, model, serial number, IMEI, storage capacity, condition and the fault you report.
  • Device access credentials: a passcode, PIN or password you choose to provide so we can test and repair your device (see section 3).
  • Repair records: diagnostic findings, work performed, parts used, warranty claims and service history.
  • Payment information: transaction records. Card payments are processed by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Website information: details you submit through contact or booking forms, and technical data collected through cookies and analytics, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited.
  • Communications: emails, text messages and notes from phone calls with you.
  • Security video: video recorded by in-store cameras for safety and theft prevention.

3Device passcodes and the data on your device

Repairing and testing a device often requires unlocking it. If you provide your passcode, we use it only to diagnose, repair and test your device. You may decline to provide it, but this can limit the testing we are able to perform, and untested functions may not be covered by our warranty.

  • Our technicians may incidentally see content on your device (such as photos, messages or files) while testing it. We do not browse, copy, alter or disclose your files beyond what the repair requires.
  • Passcodes are recorded only for the duration of the repair and are securely deleted once your device is returned.
  • Before any repair, we recommend you back up your device, remove or encrypt highly sensitive data where practical, and sign out of accounts or disable activation locks (such as Find My iPhone) when we ask you to.
  • We are not responsible for data stored on your device. Please see our Terms & Conditions for our data loss disclaimer.

4How we use your information

  • To provide repair, diagnostic and related services and to return your device to you.
  • To contact you about quotes, repair status, pickup and follow-up.
  • To administer warranties and process warranty claims.
  • To process payments and maintain accounting, tax and business records.
  • To improve our services and website.
  • To meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • With your express consent, to send you promotions or newsletters. You can unsubscribe at any time.

6When we share personal information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We disclose it only:

  • to service providers who help us operate, such as payment processors, booking and point-of-sale software, accounting services and couriers, who may use it only to provide services to us;
  • to parts suppliers or manufacturers where necessary to process a warranty claim on a part;
  • to professional advisors such as lawyers or accountants, under duties of confidentiality;
  • where required or permitted by law, including to comply with a court order, subpoena or lawful request by authorities, or to report suspected stolen property to police.

Some service providers (for example, website analytics or cloud software) may store information outside of Canada. Where they do, that information is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

7Retention and disposal

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes above and to meet legal requirements (for example, tax and accounting rules). Where we use personal information to make a decision that directly affects you, we retain it for at least one year as required by PIPA. When no longer needed, we securely destroy, erase or anonymize it. Device passcodes are deleted when your repair is complete. We keep recovered data for 7 days after the job is finished, then delete it.

8How we protect your information

We use physical, technical and administrative safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including locked storage of devices awaiting repair, restricted staff access on a need-to-know basis, password-protected systems, and secure disposal practices. No security measure is perfect, but we work to protect your information against loss, theft and unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

9Cookies and website analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, which may include analytics tools such as Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; parts of the site may not work as intended without them. Our website may link to third-party sites whose privacy practices we do not control — this policy does not apply to them.

10Your rights: access and correction

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask how it has been used and disclosed, and request correction of errors. Send requests to our Privacy Officer using the contact details below. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time required by law (generally 30 business days under PIPA). In limited cases the law allows or requires us to refuse access, and we will explain why in writing.
